Guests are normally not prepared for the splendor of reds, yellows, honey-golds and greens the Northwoods puts on each fall. Guests have nothing more strenuous to do than gaze at the natural wonder and relax.

Winter...We have to admit that snowmobiling is really intense in the Northwoods of Tomahawk. Deep snow, fun snow, we're right on well-marked trails. We're located on Crystal Lake so when you need a break consider ice fishing or cross country skiing. Ample parking for your trailers.

Fishing...Guide service is available to our guests. Avid fishermen bring their own boats and gear and fish a variety of lakes and rivers while they enjoy the variety of the accommodations at Pine Cone Ranch. You are furnished an Aluma-Craft fishing boat with each cottage rental. Additional boats can also be rented. If you are a canoeist, we have those for you to rent. Children are often seen fishing from the paddle boat. Boat rentals available on neighboring waters. Boat landing for registered guests.
Nature lovers rejoice in the return of robins, loons, ducks and geese. Gardeners check the flower beds for the first signs of life, while kids splash home from school, antsy because the weather's warming up and summer vacation is tangibly near.
Fishermen who have been sorting their rubber worms and organizing their tackle boxes for months get serious about their preparations as the ice goes out; tuning outboards and prepping their fishing boats they're eager to launch.

For the naturalist, a field guide would be handy to help you identify and study the variety you'll see. Did you know there are eight different soft pines and some 25 different hard pines? We have a fair share of them at the ranch, plus we have willows, aspen, poplar, birch mulberry and many others.
You'll enjoy the variety of wild flowers and berries in our area. Whether you are here in the spring for wild strawberries, or spend a summer evening in a wild blueberry patch, the picking will be plentiful. Late summer will offer raspberries and blackberries so don't miss a single season of berry picking up north. Other popular varieties include ground cherries, choke cherries and June berries. Wild mushrooms are plentiful for the experienced picker. Nature provides a vast number of special edibles and they are always ready for picking.
Finally, Pine Cone Ranch is birdwatcher's paradise. Prepare yourself to be surprised and altogether charmed, because Wisconsin is a natural nesting spot for countless birds. Pine Cone Ranch has a balanced habitat where you can expect to see many of them with your camera or binoculars.
